El Fuego

Haven't posted much since I bought Tim's Fuego.

Things are going well with it, I'd say the electrical system is 99% fine now. all the major stuff works incl the A/C and trip computer. oil level sender is not behaving... yet... and the oil pressure sender is a little wonky when there is a quick change in pressure (when ya rev it) at constant speed or light even rise in pressure it's fine. Still need to buy the reverse light switch...

Runs much better but still misses a little, vacuum system has been monkied with, a lot and I'm fairly certan the oxs sensor is shot. So more work to be done there. Also failed inspection, needs a ball joint and an inner tie rod. I've got an entire rack coming with good tie rods and it came with ball joints so those and the Konis are going on soon.

I did get a few miles on it though (about 200) runs nice and smooth on the interstate, returned 30MPG in it's current state So I'm happy... Of course it's in such nice shape I'm going to have to hunt down yet another car to use as a daily come winter. figures I was looking for just basic transportation, got another garage queen instead HAHA!

I am really glad this car ended up in a good home. It's finally getting the TLC that is deserves!

Glad it's working out good for you. Keep us posted on the progress.

yup, much to the dismay of my wife

doing what I can to get the L-Jet to run right, but Renault added stuff to the system I don't think it helps hehe.

I have a feeling I'm going to change to megasquirt in a year or two... Particularly since I discovered R21 2.0L Turbo intake and exhaust manifold are a direct bolt on... :evil1:

lookie what I got!

Reverse light switch! brandy new from rockauto.com $27  Upper ball joints are coming tommado, ones that came with the car are actually for a Renault 12

New o2 went in last week, now it runs worse, but it's not running as rich now... thinking stuck injector maybe.

Cross your fingers for good weather tomorrow! I've been asked for pictures of the Fuego for French Performance Cars magazine. Of course I don't have any really good ones yet. DOH.

most recent though

Did you repaint the hood? I don't see some of the stone chips/paint cracks that used to be there.

Looks awesome though. Very glad that the old girl found a loving home.

I think I'm closer to finding the missing issue, somewhere in the ignition system.. just haven't had time to yank stuff apart and start trouble shooting it yet. But every test i've done on the fuel system has checked out. Other than that 1,100 miles trouble free miles so far.

picture I'm submitting. didn't have much time to shoot last night (or wash the car...) so quick 5 min shoot down the road from my house.

looks great. Them frenchies still make half decent cars, over there. We just never get them here. Probably a good thing. Their econo boxe city cars would put the big3 under.

ta da! (getting a copy mailed to me from europe, so this is what I got right now.)

fixed the random dying and no start it decided to pull recently, pins for the crank sensor on the ign module are all bent funny, filled 'em with dielectric grease now it behaves! sill not quite right though :confused2:

Oh and it's officially my daily now till the snow flies... wife is staying home with the kiddo now (daycare cost was too much of a drain) need to figure out what to do for a winter ride now two nice summer cars WTF was I thinking!?
