Electro savvy guys? Help with headlights

So I don't know much when it comes to electronics. Basically, I want to wire my JDM projectors so I can use both my high beam and low beam projector at the same time. I feel that it is taxing and stressful on my bulbs to keep switching from my low beam (H1 bulb) to my high beam (9005). Plus, it would be even better at night on those back roads with both beams on. How could I go about making this work? How much work involved?

Dont kow how to help you, but that sucks. You are right that it will be taxing on your ballasts (especially HID's) if you are switching back and forth. HID's like to have nice constant power. My car runs the low beams all the time, and add the highbeams when i swap over.

In fact i plan on trying to wire it so that the fogs are on all the time. Any time i am in an area where im swapping back and forth between high and low beams, i shut off the fogs so that im not flipping them on and off.

Make sure they don't use the same wiring because running both over the same wires could overload the wiring. I don't know how they're set up so I'll wait for a mechanic or somebody to explain that (to me and you

Well, that's one of the problems. I have to use a custom harness to have these headlamps work, since factory USDM 02/03 WRX uses a 9007 low/high bulb, and these projectors use H1 low 9005 high. So right now for a harness, I have H1 male spade connectors, and a 9005 male connector, both wired to a 9007 female plug which plugs into my factory 9007 male connector for power/control.

ughhhh....

Have you hit up nasty-oc to see if there an ony guys running JDM projectors with HIDs?

I would imagine as long as you are staying with a 35 wayy bulb, and you are using an accesory power harness it would be ok. MY only fear is you want to make it so both bulbs are coming on together and being powered through the single harness. Might be an overload.

I'm asking over there now. If I do indeed get HIDs, I will definitely have to use a relay harness.

How many times do I have to tell you that if you traded lights with me, you wouldn't have any of these problems anymore

Are you saying maybe they'll overload if they both turn on at the same time, or if they are just on at the same time?

If you want both on at the same time, just make it so the low beams still get power when you turn the highs on ... this way your lows will already be on when you switch to highs.

I assume this would involve just splicing a couple wires, but I would need to see your adapters and figure out which wire does what.

Having an HID low beam, and a standard halogen high beam on at the same time drawing power from the stock system would probably overload it and ruin it over time. That's why if I do ever get an HID set up for my lows, I will definitely run a relay harness to draw power from the battery instead.

Emailed Lightwerkz. He said all I need to do is ground the low beam wire to the chassis and I should be good to go!

yea ryan since ive had my lights which are jdm they have always been wired so my hid lows are on along with my highs maybe if i can get to the next meet and your there if you haven't figured it out by then I can show you my wiring.

^OMG you're gonna be a life saver. I tried today and it didn't work. All I did was end up blowing a fuse. Can you tell me how you wired yours? Have any pictures?

I have projector headlights on my car and when I have high beams on, the lows are on as well. have you tried wiring it up at all? they might already be set up.

Ryan, isn't Akaparian selling a set of Ebay projectors that he customized with LED signal lights that do exactly what you are trying to do with the low beams always on? You may want to ask him. He said he wired them directly to the battery some how, I figure he must have used relays.

If you want your low beams always on, ground the negative wire to the low beam bulb.

oh hey, I didn't even notice... Just saw it in the new content feed.
