so theres always something. i just got my GReddy cat back the other day and went to install it this weekend and the flanges are mangled. how they did that i have no idea, but theres no way its gonna seal. at this point i think im just gonna bring it to a muffler shop and have them intall it. unless someone has a great idea for flatining the flanges so that they sit flush.

Flanges on your head pipe, mid, axleback?

It might well be worth a trip to Meineke...I commend you for trying to do it yourself, but this is exactly why I took mine to a shop. It was about a 4hr process for me to drive to Auburn and back and have it done.

there just all bent out of shape. where the bolts go through they are pushed out so theres a huge gap in the middle and where it ataches to the cat that flange is bent up too. but that doesn't need to seal. i've tried hammers, wood, clamps, vices. i give up i think im just gonna find a shop and pay them to make it work haha

what wannarex said... take it to Meineke. They'll put it on for ya... for cheap.

i'll probaly just get them to do it and tap my header for the EGT while im at it.

so just went to the shop here on cash corner. they wanted 75 bucks an hour. one hour minimum. if it takes them one hour 10 mins i get charged two hours. that and the guy called it a ebt port. um.. yeah thanks... your not touching my car.

so... i guess the search goes on :-

ya didn't check Meineke, didya? Ya ask everyones advise, then don't listen. It's the RS purchase all over again!

Oh, most shops won't just tap your header, they'll drill a hole and weld a nut so it'll be stronger than just a sheet metal pipe.

theres a midas on my way home i think im gonna swing in and see what they say if there open.

i think they will probaly have to cut off the flanges and weld new ones on, that seems to be the fastest solution.
