Exhaust hanger question

I think I screwed up. I have a 3" stainless exhaust that will soon go on, along with AP. Question relates to exhaust. I purchased some nice red kartboy exhaust hangers (good for .2hp) .....regular length, not long ones. Should I have purchased the long ones with teh 3 inch pipe? Rear diff clearance issue with regular length hangers?

Yeah, what I thought, I will just have to fit it up and see. it is invidia catted dp with scooby sport the rest of the way

get them both.

When I got my Bosal for my WRX everyone said I'll need the longies. Well I hung it just fine with the shorties. I think you just have to wait and see how it all sits. They never get the pipe bends exactly duplicated anyways.

getting the extra set of long hangers will be cheap compared to add'l downtime if it turns out you need em.

much less swearing, btdt

My exhaust is rattling. Is it possible its hitting the rear diff causing the rattle?
That is very possible especially if you have a diff protector. otherwise some of the exhausts need to be given a bit of english to fit properly.

basically you might need to bend a few of the hangars to make everything fit nicely

my Trust exhaust rattles against my subaru diff protector. i need to take a hammer to the protector and make a divot to give some extra room.

Yo Mr Exhaust-Related Cop Magnet--

You got a jack? You got eyeballs? Get under there and see for yourself.

Crikey. Kids these days. How are WE supposed to know what YOUR school-bus-pipe exhaust is hitting? :icon_scratch:

after one recent HKS install, the exhaust was rubbing in 3 places. cut, slice, trim, bend, poof....quietness (well except for the grapefuit shooter that is)

Ive noticed if I kick it away from the rear diff a few times it doesn't rattle for a little bit. If I get tighter exhaust hangers will this help aka kartboy?

you should be able to bend the hangars so that it moves the exhaust away from the diff. (the metal parts that are welded to the exhaust)

neither my borla hush or cobb 3" exhausts needed the long ones.

you can tack weld washers on yer exhaust hangers to put tension on them in the direction you want them to go.
