my partner and I have a 2002 outback sedan that needs a new exhaust to get a sticker. the manifold is fine, but everything from there back is junk, including the cats. living in cumberland county, I can't away with putting a pipe and muffler on it! I've been given a couple of leads, but don't want to pay and arm and a leg. we still have a year to pay on it and owe about 4k....got an offer today for 3k cash as is....just looking for input on what the best course for us is....it's only got 102k miles on it and we all know they can go a heck of a lot longer!!

My opinion, $3k for your car is about half what it is worth. KBB is $7500 in good condition.

Price list from NAPA:

Cat- $347

Muffler- $148

Mid Pipe - $128

Donut gasket - $8.50

Manifold to cat gasket - $3.50

Muffler to midpipe gasket - $5

Unless you can find a used setup that's in good condition NAPA will run you about $650. Compare that to the $1k hit you will take from selling the car for $3k. Then you could a) sell it for more

trade it in and get atleast $5k for it. That is based on KBB.

I would suggest seeing mikey, hes a vendor here and lives in standish, he may have something he could put on or piece together and let you kow what you may need for a sticker
