Alright, so the saga continues.

Put in my 2 week notice last Wednesday because I got a job offer the day prior. My boss made no attempt to retain me, but did ask why I was leaving. Boss & Owner placed an Ad in various locations and got an immediate response (big suprise, since job market for my career line is slim). Boss asks if I can help train potential candidates so there is little interruption, and I agreed.

So I get a phone call on Friday from my new employer, claiming they lost their largest client, and that he will not be giving me a job afterall.

I told my boss the truth ( :

) about the job situation, and after chuckling for a few moments and saying "I don't envy your situation" a few times, told me he would discuss this turn of events with his wife (owner) over the weekend. They still interviewed the applicants on Saturday, to make sure they covered their bases.

Yesterday, my boss asks me for a commitment to work until at least the New Year, to which I agreed. I don't have a whole lot of choice right now, afterall.

But come on... WTF? How can you, in good conscience, do this to somebody? What the hell goes through a guys head to bring him to call me and tell me I am no longer being offered employment AFTER I gave my notice? I was so ripped at the guy, but maintained professionalism nonetheless. It was wicked difficult to do that, though. Damn, life sucks donkey balls sometimes.

killerbee had the same thing happen to him recently :-[

no one really has a heart anymore when it comes to bus. >

Sorry to hear that. The business world can be very cold hearted unfortunately. It doesn't sound like that company was very stable anyways, if one client makes that much of an impact for them. Atleast you found all this out now rather than after you started the new place. Atleast you have some time to find something between now and New Years.

maybe he found out about your crack habit?

;D ;D

it happens, especially to smaller companies that have business fluctuations. amy was at a stained glass studio that would tell her every 3 months that she might get laid off. after several times hearing that, and dealing with the stress that comes with not knowing if you'll have your job next month, she quit and went to a much larger business in a different field just for job security.

company size of to-be employer was/is 20 people. i work with a 4 person company right now, and stability isn't an issue.

that is just because your boss is cheap and has one person doing the work of 2 (and one out on disability). there is no where to cut if the business slows or you loose a big client.

That def blows donkey balls I have no dubt that things for you will turn around for the best i believe things happen for a reason
