I'm a hack
adding my car to the list, since i kinda started the lexus craze around here
car came to me as a non running 98 gs300 from dorchester mass
once it ran and was on the road, i lowered it on struts and springs and gave the exterior some much needed attention, paint was dull from lack of care and the car was full of door dings. oh and of course non stock wheels...
also added a pair of greddy mufflers around the same time for a little added sound.
next i was able to find a black oem front bumper on ebay for 150 shipped to replace the unpainted aftermarket that came with the car. tinted the fogs too while i was at it
installed a double din pioneer touch screen nav unit, along with some subs in the trunk to complete the audio transformation
car was starting to look pretty good, it stayed at this level for the spring and most of the summer, also picked up a set of tien flex coilovers and dropped the car a little more.
garrett took some sweet rolling shots
acky came down one day to get some work done on his GS, so my buddy jeromy came over and we shot some pics of the cars
about this time, it was coming up on my cars 1 year anniversary with me, so i bought it an early present.
it was only a matter of time... complete drivetrain swap out of a Toyota Aristo, right down to the oem intercooler setup, rear diff, and abs/trac ecu. The aristo is what the GS was sold as in japan, it was availible with the same motor my car came with, OR the 2JZGTE toyota Supra engine
since the cars are the same, its literally a matter of unbolting one drive train and bolting the other in, adding a return fuel line, and running 1 8" long wire so the tach works. oh yeah and fabricating a downpipe/exhaust. so easy a caveman could do it!
started at 10:30 on a saturday morning, my brother peter came over for a few hours and matty matt came over in the afternoon. by 10:30 that same night, matt and i were blasting up and down my road in what was essentally now a 4 door luxury supra
motor is currently at 15psi on the stock turbos, running it TTC (parallel operation as opposed to sequential) due the the less then smooth power delivery in sequential mode. at that boost level it should be making around 350rwhp according to results from the supra community.
around this time, my brother peter decided he wanted a project car, so after a trip to RI he had this gem. a 92 SC300 in very nice stock condition
next on the GS i added LED tail lights, and a TTE replica front lip. really changed the look of the car in my opinion
i raised the suspension back up as i was getting tired with the hellaflush problem of scraping and bottoming out on every bump, and was also sick of having to bug matt to put different new front tires on the car every few months as the result of camber wear. im sure hes as happy as i am about that.
running lights and LED reverse lights
after about 1 year i got tired of the original set of wheels i had on the car, call it "wheel ADD" so i changed it up a little
18x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 out back. the silver is going to be changed come spring to something different. it was silver or flat black so i went with silver.
that pretty much takes us up to where the car is at now
2013 is going to bring some big changes under the hood of this thing, so stay tuned!!
