H6 rear upgrade or front brake package for bugeye wagon?

I have decided that the stock brakes on the waggie are mushy under the foot and need some help. I am thinking of going with stoptech front rotors and Hawk HP pads ($283) or the H6 rear brake upgrade ($275 I think) That's about the limit of my budget, so which one should I get? I am planning on doing a hill climb and several rallycrosses this year so keep that in mind. Cheers

before blowing the budget on big brake hardware, upgrade the basic stuff. SS lines & master cylinder/firewall brace kit. those 2 things alone make a huge difference. then add pads -- we ran Carbotech XP front and bobcat rears on Tulip and never-ever-ever had a moment's braking probs, even running box stock RS calipers w/rotors glowing red hot after a 25 mile stage.

not to mention, fresh fluid and a good thorough bleed job.

stoptechs etc with rubber lines and a flexy firewall/MC setup...eeew.

Since mushy pedal is yuor complaint, I would start with the stainless lines.

You can do the H-6 upgrade for really cheap!!!...

-Bring in your non H-6 rear caliper brackets to autozone and use them as a core exchange for remanufactured H-6 brackets. It'll run you less than $100 and they accept the different brackets in the exchange. They will not have the H-6 bracket in stock, but they can get them.

-Then use NAPA (crap-a) brake rotors. It is a solid metal disc, why pay more? If they wear out sooner ot develop hairline cracks, buying NAPA rotors three times is still cheaper than stoptech rotors.

So... H-6 rears for less than $150, and lines for another $120!!! Then maybe you'll still have money fot the pads Nigel reccommends.

Just ordered a MC brace from turn in Concepts and stainless lines. That and a good shot of new fuid and brake bleed hopefully will do the trick. I'll update when I have them installed.

Thanks for the info on the H6 stuff, that is CHEEP

i would suggest a good set of SS lines and new better fluid as well, but beyond that i would say pads for the front. i've used hawk HPS (or HP?) front pads and stock ones, and done the rear H6 upgrade. i would say work on the fronts first.
