Hey everyone im thinking of adding a header, Up Pipe and flywheel, and clutch to my Stage 2 06 STI, my concerns are I want to maintain my warranty, which header would be the best pros and cons of equal and unequal length, and who would be good enough to reflash my car using the COBB access port, Im thinking at this point I would prob need to put in on a dyno for the tuning. Current mods I have SPT intake with heat shield, COBB downpipe, SPT catback exhaust, short shift kit, boost gauge, and upgraded sway bars. Its estimated around 350 hp right now. What would each piece add for hp, the up pipe I was unsure on will it benefit my gains to have it done. Also do you think a proper tune with dyno is necessary, I don't think their is a preloaded map for these upgrades. Oh and who would be a good person to do the install of these parts, would the peeps that do the tune also be the ones to install the goodies.
if by 350hp u mean that's what cobb lists with your OTS tune? its not, just a heads up , an intake and turboback exhaust wont net u 50hp with a OTS tune, not to mention the 300hp claimed at the factory is at the crank....I know its not what you were asking about but I figured id be nice and inform u before someone tears into you for your claims on power.
as for your question concerning warranty you need to read up on the warranty and see if it will void it. or jus keep all your stock stuff in case of a problem.
headers-
EL- can more power be made with these, yes. will they make u more power, probably not. people tend to go EL once they go rotated if they are really serious about makin as much power as possible, with the best spool-up. downsides- none really besides for losing that real deep 'scooby rumble'
UEL- keep the good scooby rumble, quality ones flow way better than stockers, giving better spool, etc. (same goes for EL)
up pipe- you wont see as much for gains as I did (03 wrx had a cat in the UP) but you can still see some gains, especially if the UP has larger ID.
flywheel- if you're gonna do the flywheel, you might as well do the clutch/pressure plate as well. it doesn't have to be done, but when u do finally do those, you'll have to resurface ur flywheel anyhow.
tune- if you want the most gains, and safest tune get a dyno tune. you can also get them to up the boost a lil as well, while will also give you some more power. as for installation of the parts it depends on what you're comfortable with. I know I can install these parts myself, you might not, usually the shop u get the tune at has the capabilities to do all these parts.
hope I was a help, feel free to pm with with any questions
