Hello Everyone!

Hey everyone, first time Subaru owner here. My name is justin (duh) but pretty much everyone just calls me "jt". I'm pretty excited about my recent purchase. I've been lurking here for about a week or so. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about this car, and I think this place is a good start.

I bought a 09 WRX down at Evergreen Subaru. Overall it was a pretty good experience. I guess I ended up buying Carter's car? Well I hope he didn't abuse her too much because I hope she lasts me a while! Who am I kidding? I'll probably want to trade it in for a new one next year lol.

Anyways, I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction as to where to start with mods? I've been hearing the service down at Evergreen is top notch, but I think I'd feel like an idiot going down there and just asking all kinds of stupid questions. I'd rather get called stupid on the internet than in person.

I guess the first mod I want to do is a short shifter. Any suggestions which to go with? Oh and what do you guys run for snow tires? Today sucked!

Thanks in advance,

-jt

Welcome Jt. Great choice on the car. I believe kart boy is the preferd short throw and evergreen stocks them I believe. Dont worry about stupid questions, it's the stupid answers to worry about !!!!!

Welcome!

Any snow tire will be a VAST improvement. Differences will be in the wet and dry performance but that will always cost you extra $$...

I have winterforce on my OBS, they came on the car when I bought it. Pretty noisy but hell, they are snow tires...

The Blizzak LM-22's that I had on my Mazda were 10x better in dry, wet, and road noise!

welcome Justin

#1 mod for winter in Maine is snow tires. all other mods are a waste if you can't stay on the road!

there are a couple of other snow tire threads here, search and you'll find some answers....no need to clutter up your "Hello Everyone" thread with more snow tahr talk.

as for snow tire size, go with stock size or even narrower if you can...wider is NOT better when it comes to winter traction. fat tires just hydroplane on the slush and snow while narrow ones bite thru to give much better traction and grip.

Hey thanks guys. I'll stop being a noob and use the ol search function

ill take some pics soon. Not much special about the car, but she's still nice.

carter is lame so the car should be top notch. snow tires make the car fun as hell, def invest

Welcome!

I'm rocking a set of Pirelli Sottozero Winter 210 (235/45/17 flavor) on my WRX and it's a HUGE improvement over just all seasons. Best mod you can make in the winter. I picked up the set on CL for a little over $300 and they still had the little nubs on them.
