HELP!!! Are 07 and 04 STi starters the same?????

alright guys someone please help me out, im going crazy with this...

as far as i can tell there is no difference between an 07 and 04 STi starter.

i have people conferming that they are the same, and the shop that's doing the work on my car telling me that people he asked tell him they are different.

he cant get the starter to match up to the flywheel, and he was told that the housing are different. but he doesn't have an 07 starter to compare it to.

he can jump the car, get it started, and everything works. im just assuming he is doing something wrong, because 07 trans have been used with a different year starter before...

Did you change the clutch and flywheel? Sti clutch and flywheel is different than a wrx. I think the wrx flywheel is smaller diameter than Sti, but not sure.

This is a stickied thread in the Drivetrain subforum. I think that if it were incorrect someone surely would have notified them by now. It also reinforces all the OEM parts catalogs online that I can find that only list MT turbo or no turbo, no specification of 5sp or 6sp.

ya, i have read both of those links before. that's why i think they are the same, besides ECS telling me they are.

ill find out tommorow when the mechanic trys to puit it in...
