help- having dodge dreams again

A few years ago me and the wife bought a set of matching cars from our local dodge dealer.Limited edition daytona's,both charger and ram in combustion orange....not long there after im hearing news that dodge is going to bring back the "Challenger"in a few years...I talk with my sales rep and tell him if it happens id like to be on the list...A few months later im told its a go ,the challenger will be going into production and im the first in line if interested.....meanwhile 3 years later.....My salesman quits and i lose my spot in line, dodge changes production stratagy and produces a"limited" first run of SRT challengers instead of the average 5.7 r/t version i could afford[the dealerships owner has the 1 SRT challenger they were allotted] and i trade my charger in for my wrx..........The problem.......I have this beautiful 06 wrx, tastefully modded ,paid for and im happy untill about 2 weeks ago when macdonald motors pulls 2 brandy new dodge challengers out to the front of thier lot for me and the world to see....blue with white race stripe and the other is red.[im reallllllly like the blue]....Ive caught myself driving by at slower speeds but have managed NOT to pull in and ask for a test drive..YET......

..what should i do,deny my inner cravings and wait a few more years until i entertain the idea of a new ride or go take the beast out for a spin and let my boyhood dreams take over.

Think about winter, go to a rally, watch a gymkhana video...umm...Colin McCrea...all these might help you keep your WRX!

Do what makes you happy.

I personally wouldn't get one because on paper it is the worst pony car and I have some personal gripes with Chrysler. But then again the vehicles I drove when I was younger haven't had new models to try and capture the magic of the old ones, so I have no idea about the feelings you have for the new oldies.

I say go drive the Dodge. Then immediately after that drive your car. Then sit in the Dodge, sit and look, feel, monkey with stuff. I bet you will drive home a brand new 06 WRX that's already registered to you!

Worst case scenario is you'll buy the Challenger, get sick of around January 2011, then you'll start shopping for 2011 STIs. Nothing wrong with that other than the $5K you lose driving it off the lot.

Uhm, its a dodge.
this^ regardless of how pretty it is, i've never seena dodge stay together as well and anything japanese. the only thing you can do better with that car is doughnuts and smoke shows (and explode transmissions)

So far my experience with the dodge 5.7 liter hemi [over 45k miles]has been good....Makes good power ,mines stock at 345 hp/375 tq.with gas mileage almost the same as my subaru.

yah ,i gots a hemi.

Paul you should test drive the car while it`s still available. Otherwise you`ll kick yourself in the pants if you procrastinate too long and they get sold.

same gas mileage as scuba-jew? wow. my stepdad has a hemi 2500 and gets about 12mpg (7 when i drive it) i love the power but he's had a lot of issues

Please excuse wzrd from all comments made this afternoon, recovering from emergency dental surgury and extreemly wacked and shouldnt be driving anything including keyboard

see it's just the drugs making you want a dodge

edit: but seriously, if you can afford the challenger, and have something to drive in the snow(because i'd garage it int he winter) then do it. they are wicked sexy in orange

Rough subject man....Ive had STI dreams for yearssssss.....Ive gotten so close a couple times, once was even sitting behind the wheel of THE one at patriot when i backed off due to price negotiation tactics causing me undo frustration....random thoughtsHard to go backward to a rear wheel drive platform after getting used to the suby awd system, the audi/bmw's are awesome but way outa my price range...Like the way the cars of the 60ies disapeared ,im afriad if i dont jump on one now the window will close again....

Anyone got a good look at one of the challengers yet?... only bad rumor im hearing is the braking system is to soft the the weight of the car,to small rotor.

never mind the fact if i came home with a new ride the wife would probly do something.......bad....to me........no harm in looking tho......right? ??????

blows that therory but i bought dodges while straight......second problem,no garage..Wife says build it first then buy a new sport car....but i want the horse before the cart.

Yeah, go look, drive. You're old enough to do what you want, and a test drive. that's within reason. I'll go with you if you need support. What are they gonna do if we do a long smokey burn out in front of Lamprons? Heeeheheehehe

I doubt the Challenger will disappear within the next 6 years, they've got a lot into developement and production of them bad boys. It will only get better within the next couple years.

Funny thing is I'm sort of in the same shoes as you. I drive by Emerson Chevy. They have 5 Camaros out front. The slowest one is a 300hp v6. They only get faster after that. Always been a Mustang boy, but always been 3 steps away from the 1968 Camaro of my dreams...now the new Camero is way better than any Camaro or Mustang has ever been. And it comes with a huge warranty, and I know a few things about GM cars. Tell me again why I have to pay for my kids' college?!?!?!

Ok, its settled. Meet me at McDonald's Motors, I'll get the Challenger to test drive and you see if you can keep up with your WRX. We'll do a lap around Long Lake.
