A certain 05 WRX wag some of you may know, has a horrific squeek/creaking in rear pass side seatback area. Esp bad in hot weather, as car goes over uneven surface it creaks and groans like an old lady hucking bags of cement (or something like that)

Can somebody hep a bro out before he tries to fix the noise with a Sawzall? Is this a known body integrity issue, etc.

Have to checked to see if anything is rubbing? Try removing the back seat and see if the noise goes away.

flip the seat down and see if it goes away. otherwise spray silicone all over the hatch rubber.

turn up the stereo...
that is the obvious solution, but it has been the "fix" for this squeek way too long already

the whoosh-foosh BOV, wheezy intake and loud SPT exhaust didn't really mask enough of the noise, either

yeah... what the beaver said...

damm it!

ps: any vidz of U driving on the net so I can show sum peeps at my gaming site?

try folding the down, ive run into this before, but its more common on the legacy/outback. if it goes away, you have some play in your seat latch. an easy cure is to wrap the catch in electrical tape, thus eliminating the play when the seat is folded up. hope this helps!

stiffen the sway bar and see what happens...

or do what I would do, rip out the interior and give it a deserved hidden roll cage.

5 years is just the beginning..the true enthusiast keeps going. Squeaks galore...

Subes are brutal on thier bodies, it starts with squeaks. check for rub marks if the seat folds at the rubber pegs in the interior. My guess is drivers side first will reveal something. Then check outside underneath the car in front of rear wheels..closely...if i am ahead of a simple problem, remember this post anyway.

I get squeaks inside the 92 wagon.... figured out the other day if you have the passenger side window all the way down and you squeeze the top of the door together by the b pillar it goes away....

sounds to me like a job for the universal male fixx-all... duct tape!

took Pedro's sage advice and siliconed the bejeejus out of the door/hatch seals and rear seat hinge/latch assy's

so OK the car stinks of silicone spray but the squeeks seem to be (dare I say it?!) ....gone.

Yesssss. Blessed silence (except for tire roar, exhaust drone and intake suck:rolleyes:)

totally off topic now and I apologize.... persay if I were looking at the ewetewb vidz... which ones R U in....just so I am properly aligned with all that planetary schtuff
I'm codriving in virtually all of em, thass moi calling teh notes.

"good noise" = still noise

sometimes I just wish the car was stock, quieter and rode more smoother-ish

so kill me, I'm 55 and bouncing around in a loud Suby just gets kinda....old....sometimes.

but then I get to sling it sideways on a snowy back road or pass 6 cars going up a long hill and make the g/f yell at me, and heh, life is A-OK again
