Hi guys,

I saw a similar post on here earlier, but i have a slightly different question.

Basically, if i put the fwd fuse in my 97 LGT, how long can i run it in fwd?

All it does is just disable the electronic sensor/clutch right?

Will it damage anything by doing so?

and will my gas mileage by increased at all?

It will not damage anything, but it will not increase your MPG's either. So unless you are running a spare because of a flat or your auto tranny is high mileage and has torque bind issues, there really is no reason to run it in FWD

LOL yup!! My old 97 Impreza L auto was great at that. It made guys with V8's jealous!!
you met some weird guys with v8s.

if there is no change in mileage to unplug it ain't even working...or it is working. must be gentle to stay on all the time.

a hard set lever to push or pull to engage and you really know it is in AWD...

if nothing to notice, keep it plugged in.

autos work with fluids and springs and pressures, taking the back half off might localize some discs...

It doesn't change MPG's because with the autos, the rear only engages at certain times, so most of the time it is FWD anyway. But it there to be used when you have a flat, because we all know with AWD you shouldn't run different size tires.

It makes a difference in mileage, it was about 2mpg highway for me. I used to travel a lot and I would frequently travel the same routes week to week and alternate between fwd/awd. Also that car ran about 100k miles in fwd before I got it so I wouldnt worry about using fwd mode.

my friend had a 97 LGT, he always ran it in FWD. only time he'd take the fuse out was when we'd take it out back into the field
