How resilient are the 2.5 l blocks with overheating?

depends on where the guage stops.

but it was pretty close to the H. and it got there from the light on Industrial park rd/195 to the Shell on Rt112.

The new dohc 2.5s are a lot more rugged than the 1st generation 96-99, and those over heat a lot because of internal head gasket leaks. I wouldn't worry unless it was buried beyond H for a day or more. G/L

well it seems that everything is fine.

I had a few things done to it yesterday and the radiator cap was left off after a coolant flush.

re-reading your original post, the overheat episode wasn't long enough or hot enough to do anything bad--this is why temp guages wuz invented, so observant droivas don't cook they new cars before due time.

now when a 2.5 overheats so bad the motor starts chugging/bucking, and when you stop and try to restart the dam thing is seized up solid.... then you got a plobrem! BTDT.
