How to rebuild a carburetor

hmm...my grandfather-in-law has a different method. when the engine isn't running right, hit the carb with a ball peen hammer enough time so that you can convince the wife that you need a new one. Problem solved.

I, on the other hand, have rebuilt quite a number of carbs, especially when you consider that I have to do them four at a time, (motorcyles) and I actually enjoy doing it.

It's just to bad that you can't get "REAL" carb cleaner any more. I mean the kind that if you leave the body in over lunch, when you come back there won't be anything left.

None of us will need these on our Subies, but in case you're rocking a B/A Mustang for the odd auto-x (ahem, Dan)
Funny story, Pops mustang is a 5.0 with EFI (94-95). The car uses a TwECCer base model to change the ECU tune. No carbs.

I do have to rebuild bike and ATV carbs soon though..... Need to get rid of my 250.

i had to teach myself how to rebuild the carb on my moms lawnmower over the weekend when she sucked something into it from the gas tank and it would only run when i strayed carb cleaner in the intake

luckily hers was a lot more simple than that.

what are you talking about, boxer3main won't run anything but his carbed ea81, so he'll need this eventually:lol:
Don't insult him like that, he only runs EA82's!!!

I do have my own version of ECU ( I had to hack it) and spfi from a 2wd loyale...

don't tell anyone I am in the 21st century...Shhhhh

carbs are simple. the big mistake is thinking jets and needles and floats just get slapped around. Think micronically...with your own eyes and bare hands. not many do...

I stuck a needle valve in liquid gumout for 24 hours.. without spotting the difference before and after.. the car doubled mileage. There really is something beyond our terrible eyes.
