Hey everyone, I'm looking to find out more about Hydro Dipping. Does anyone know where I can buy the supplies for this process? I've searched google, but nothing was found. Please help.
Here is one of the DIY kit sites I found. I think I found a few how-to videos on YouTube, also. I also have been doing a little research. I'd like to try it, too. Subscribed to see what you and others find.
Water Transfer Printing is the correct name for this process. You will find more about it if you use that term while searching.
basically you apply a plastic film to the surface of a water filled container that will fit your part. then you slowly guide your part through the film so that it envelops the part completely. You have to pay special attention to areas that you want to be perfect though because where the film ends or overlaps it will not look as good.
Thanks for the replys, gonna keep searching around the www for reliable sites to start purchasing supplies for this special process as I'd like to use this for a big percentage of my subie.
Like I posted before. You will find more information and suppliers if you search using the correct term "Water Transfer Printing" rather than Hydro dipping which is a company name rather than the process.
I have done this before, and it will take some practice to get the results you are after. So take it slow and definitely have something to practice on before you start on your interior.
And just remember that if you are planning on selling your car, this will lower the resale value considerably.
I just finished a shotgun. I ended up needing 2 retail kits to accomplish the project. It would have been cheaper to send it out and have it done. Except that wouldn't teach me how to do it.
As Pedro said, it isn't easy,.... but it isn't rocket science either. I am trying to get some supplies wholesale, and practice on some items to teach myself the technique(s).
