I need a mechanic

Hello Fellas,

So I need a new mechanic, and I'm really weary because its hard to trust someone.... aaand I hate paying a ton. It's time for at least a 60k tuneup and to change all the fluids, I was thinking of just going to Patriot and paying the $399 for the tuneup they have there. I haven't done anything to my car since I bought it and it had 28k on it. (other than regular oil changes/air filter) Does anyone else have recommendations? What should I have done? My best friend who was a mechanic passed away from cancer last year so I'm really hesitant about finding a new mechanic. I was so pampered having a friend do all the work.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Caitlin,

at 60 I would suggest the following:

Plugs

Tire rotate/balance

Trans flush (if auto) or just drain and replace for a manual

Rear diff oil change

brake bleed

new pads if needed (mine lasted till 70k)

Engine oil change (and filter)

air filter if needed

alignment

I may have missed something in there. but the big things are the engine oil, transmission, brake bleed and rear diff oil change.

we have a couple techs on here that can fill in anything I missed.

where are you located? I've finally got someone I can trust with all my cars. He's in brunswick, Bob at Pleasant Works...
