I need help!!

Okay so as some of you know, I have an rs with a 03 wrx motor in it. I've had it over a year now. the person who had the car before rolled the fenders and took the inner fenders out. sucky for me cause now, because the mass air flow sensor gets wet and then it doesn't boost. So i capped the air box at the fender and drilled another 3 inch hole on the front just for now, because i bought brand new fenders and inner fenders that ill put on in the spring. but now this is the big question, it idles rough - it goes from almost stalling to 2000 rpms and back down. I had it check out at the local garage and they couldn't find the problem either. so i don't know what to do. Also, the check again light is on, and that has never been on before. The garage said it was an idle air control code, but didn't find anything wrong with iac. Any ideas, thoughts, comments??

 
My '07 was exhibiting the rough idle/stalling thing. When you say that the garage said it was the iac, I'm assuming they figured that out by pulling the CEL code, right?

 
Check the turbo inlet hose for cracks. Did it just happen all of a sudden? When / what was going on when it started happening?

 
check the tgv codes on the ecu, that's what my car did when the motors where gone. Also might be the maf sensor they dont really like water if you know what i mean.

 
it started about two weeks ago ya kinda out of the blue it was weird. ya I'm going to check it over i haven't had much time in the process of buying a house. but thanks your for the help let me know if you think of anything else
