So, just bought an OBS for next to nothing. Full well knew it had clutch issues, but was never expecting this...

I wanted to point out, I bought the car like this, and yes 2point5RS_Dan, it was the one in Bangor. I ended up paying scrap price for it. Not in too bad a shape body-wise, some mild quarter panel rust and a little in the rockers. Plan is to cut up some front fenders for quarter patches, and some beefy 2x4 tube rockers. I have plans for a simple intake, exhaust, lights, and forester struts/springs. I do a lot of dirt road bombing to get to whitewater, fishing, camping spots, etc. but I also commute 50-60 miles a day, so I need something that can take both.

While I have the motor out, I plan on replacing the t-belt/wp, and want someone else's input on headgaskets. I have zero maintenance records for the vehicle, and with 216k, I'm questioning whether I should replace HGs as well, or just wait to see if they go in the future. The motor ran very well when purchased, good compression, all fluids as they should be. It was a Massachusetts commuter car, no appearance of ever being offroaded or raced. I didn't pressure test before pulling, forgot entirely. What would you do?

While the head gaskets were never really an issue with the 2.2's, it's definitely not a bad idea to do them while the motor is out, so that you know you won't have to deal with them in the future.
