I can tell you 2 brands not to use...

Centerforce Stage 1 = No

Spec Stage 1 = GOD NO

I bought each one of these as replacements in my last car. The Centerforce was ok at first, but after a year and 25,000 miles it would occationally slip a little under heavy acceleration just after shifting. That car was only 150hp stock, probably not much more than that when it was done. The Spec had great reviews online but the one I got just sucked. There was no pressure in the clutch pedal, when I read up on it others said it felt lighter but I felt almost nothing. Aside from that it no longer worked well after it had about 5,000 miles on it. I replaced them with a used OEM clutch that came on my replacement engine, which was great until that one started to wear out too around 10,000 miles later. It still catches and doesn't seem to slip, but feels very light in the pedal. The clutch hydraulics had been replaced in this car less than 2 years ago before the spec clutch so I don't believe they had anything to do with it.

thanks for the info, im pretty much staying around stock HP for a while anyways, the exedy is around 200$ any advantages over the stock one?

I have never heard anything bad about Exedy, but it more than likely won't feel the same as stock. Whether or not that is good or bad is a matter of oppinion and you won't know what it feels like until you try it. If you can't get enough favorable oppinions and you don't just have money to experiment, then get a stock clutch. It will likely do what you want it to do and then some. When you start ruining stock units quickly, then worry about an upgrade.

He learned to drive stick on that car.
And that killed it? I learned stick on a 92 loyale at 120,000 miles. It still went to 200,000 before it needed a new one. I was 16 at the time, I was on my learners permit.

I learned on a '99 OBW with over 100k, and the clutch was still good when the engine was pulled for the head gaskets. But not everyone gets a clutch on concept as fast

Yeah having a clutch is part of the fun of driving! I give people crap when they buy a clutchless manual (manumatic). I don't bother making fun on people with automatics, they already know thier car is fail.
