K&N drop in question

Hey guys. So I have an 08 WRX and I went to Auto Zone and desided to get a K&N drop in filter. I put it in and went for a drive and I thought I noticed a bit more pickup than before. I haven't done a tune yet (saving up for a Cobb exhaust). Am i really making a noticeable amount of power or am I just getting the Placebo affect?

Meh, you might notice the car spooling a little quicker, but I doubt its going to add like 20hp. I think if anything you will notice a bit more throttle response.

On a side note: I ran one on my WRX till I got to the point where I needed an intake, and I run one on my LGT also. Because it helps performance, but its also a money saver in the long run bacause you can clean and reuse them.

Changed the old one in my RS to the generic NAPA one and I noticed it on the butt dyno. Probably not going to help you pull mad tyte dyno numbers, but a cheap maintenance/"mod" item no less.

Now that you mention it the turbo seems to spool just a tad quicker. I mainly got the filter because I've bought one for every vehicle I've ever owned just because its so much easier and cheaper to maintain.
