Lesser of two evils

Probably have discussed this already but if you had to buy a new STI or a EVO what would it be?

(Personally I would pick the new EVO only because the new STI is not like the old ones I fell in love with. Something about a really stiff suspension, no radio, hard clutchl, and a transmission that's not ment to drive slow, the new one seems too user friendly for my taste)

most likely the STi. unless the Evo hatch comes stateside and with a manual. but then it would come down to how it drives. and if they are both similar to the previous generation it would be EVO hands down.

I need to carry too much stuff to the rallies to continue with a sedan. I for one welcome the new STi. the new WRX however looks like butt.

Evo in a heartbeat.

Watch the new top gear season and see the evo literally drive circles around the sti!

buy and older sti and evo. have both, double win

yeah... i've been drooling on the Evo out infront of Pape Mitsu... was surprised to see that it's now a Subie dealer and there are WRX's out where the Evo was. I like the looks of teh new STi... i like the Evo too but it's not a hatch so... i'm gonna have to go STi.

based on this factor alone:

which car would i more likely rallycross and beat on in the woods?

i would choose the STi.

subarus were designed to rally. evo's have to be coerced.

what a bunch of ol' farts, :laughing1:

"utility"

"hatchback" (ie: wagon)
I second that, STI even though its a wagon is still not a functional daily driver by my standards. Daily driver= fun to drive, great on gas, can carry a kayak or just pile junk into it and not freak out if it is damage. When it comes to a $40,000 car I wouldnt let it leave the garage unless it was sunny and 70+ degrees out. Hence why there is a babied, low milage, near mint 04 STI just sitting in the garage collecting dust. I dont think I could do that for 2 cars. One must be ran into the ground. lol

STI no question.

Evo is sexay, but Mitsu's long-term reliability record, expecially in transmissions, would scare me off of actual ownership.

my problem is that STI would = no license in approx 4 days

so a $40k evo would be better how?

me thinks you didn't understand your own question....

Everyday use, baby. Why spend 40g's on anything and let it sit?

Get serious here - to blow that kind of money on anything and then not use it to its potential is just plain dumb.

You asked if you'd buy an Evo or an STI, all things considered. At the end of the day, they are still roughly the same price, with roughly the same performance, with roughly similar features, just different looking.

Want a daily driver that you can enjoy and not worry too much about? Spend 1/10th of the cost of an STI/EVO and pickup RuggedMan's swapped impreza.
