Looking for a good place to get inspected around Bangor

Anywhere within 30 miles of Bangor would be great, just looking for a "good" place to get inspected. Anyone know of a place?

by good you mean the follow the letter of the law? or "good" as in places that care less about mods and stuff? mikes service in Old Town.

Its not very hard to find a place that follows the letter of the law, or at least the letter of their own law is more like. Looking for something at the other end of the spectrum so to speak.

I have seen this asked much more than once.. bangor area.

If it is mods you are concerned with, as in welding, body changes... the four corners in brewer at rte9 , railroad tracks, near the river.. meineke or whatever it is on the hill..near irving.. they are great about welding ... or any other "bigger mentality than subaru" type mod for that matter. (I hope what I said isn't offensive), they do welding, seemingly everything. 4x4 trucks breaking things etc. Common sense exists after all.

my own example is doubling and tripling steels, makin frame work, bigger wheels and tires, custom exhaust (must have catalyst)..

that seems to be the only confusion about the subes. FMICs and stuff is nothing...at least keep a cat in, and maybe a real chambered muffler.

its 96 decibles for exhaust.....im a licensed maine state inspector.....the rule book is available online.....the purpose of an inspection is for safety and tech. the rules are the rules and there are no deviations but some people are more easy on you than others.....i myself am strict when it comes to saftey items, because if you die or kill someone due to a failure that i passed i become 100% liable, not you. its my ass on the line. there are some dumb laws, emissions to speak of...i could care less if im recirculating gas fumes....a simple rule of thumb is if it looks like its illegal it prob is and even if you do get a sticker your car can still be torn apart by the state if they think its illegal after an inspection.....

Personally I dont really care for the inspection system that Maine uses. I would much rather be inspected by a state trooper as some other states do. I have a 96 impreza with 300k+ on it and I would like to get a sticker on it. Its just an extra car that I have that sits 90% of the time until someone needs to use it for whatever reason.

the purpose of having us inspectors do it is so that a trooper doesn't have to...we are suppose to inspect it exactly the same way a trooper was....

thanks for clarifying that
I know its from a ways back, but i was just browsing and stumbled upon this. but if the cars safe i'm pretty leniant on things. I mainely check brakes, lines, ball joints, control arm bushings, wheel bearings (cause subarus are natorious for them) you know the real important things, i could car less if you have a side pipe or a OE exhaust. you know that kind of stuff doesn't bother me. i won't shout out what station i work at but just saying, some people can be real rough on the rules and some of the stuff is dumb... but oh well, it is like matt00rs2.5 said, completely would come back to us if the car messed up and injured or killed someone....
