MAJOR FEELER: I think I may need a tranny,Help!

Hey all,not 100% sure yet,but the prognosis isn't looking good on the tranny. Long story short,the jacka** I sold the car to really did a number on the synchros on the car,and I've been trying to get it into my mechanic to get straightened out,but time, money,etc. have prevented me from doing it,and now it looks like either a rebuild is in order OR if it's a less expensive path,a different tranny. Like I said,this is a feeler,but I think it's gonna become more than that pretty soon,so...I'm looking for either a decent 5-spd tranny for a 99 RS OR,if some one has something a little more condusive to the torque of an eg33, I might have interest in that as well. I'm not looking to spend a ton,I have a restrictive budget that originally didn't allow for a tranny,so please be merciful on me. Thanks so much in advance for taking the time to read this ad and if you can help me out,thank you so much more!

Thanks,bud but I'm not sure in the long run that it'll help me though,as I'm also in the process of dropping an eg33 into the car.Appreciate it though.

 
If you could,give me some details about it,mileage,etc...and what you might want to get for it. Thanks bud

 
dude,trust me...if I could I would have hollered at you a while ago!!! That set up is sick bro. Just a lot more cheese than I can afford to part with!

 
Bump for no luck finding a tranny...I know someone out there has a spare tranny that's not junk that they want to donate to the further extend the life of another Subie!!!

 
dude.there are none out there i can find,everyone who has one wants,like, $700 for a tranny with similar miles to what mine has,with no guarantees that it won't do the same thing mine did in 500 miles. If I could hook up one in the $350-450 range,then I could justify it. But there seems to really be a shortage of RS trannys out there...SOOOO frustrating as I want my RS back on the road,the Mrs.' RS is nice,but I miss mine!

 
I wouldn't have to worry about driving easy if I upgrade the clutch and flywheel,either...which is what I'm gonna do once I have the tranny I'm using. That,and I really don't go hard on my car anyway,no launcehes,or high torque abuse,at best some spirited driving and low G on ramp entrances/exits:)

i dont launch or drive hard either, the most abuse mine sees is donuts on some 2 inch thick mud.

Are you working on it right now?

 
probably gonna start on it next week,was trying to see if I could find a working one before I started tearing mine apart.
