I am sorry this is so long and prob not well put together... anyways please read...
Today I went to Advanced Auto Parts in Westbrook Maine around 5pm. I entered being greeted by two of the employees with "here is one of our best customers" and then I walked over to pick up a few exhuast parts a friend was going to install. I noticed the manager an older man name Ken following me with his eyes through the store which I had been in many times. I asked him if he had anything to take off a stripped 12mm bolt and he replied (in a snappy tone) with "whatever is over there is what I got I cant help you". I then asked another employee to use a pipe cutter to cut the end off the pipe I just bought. The employee asked the manager Ken if I could and he said yeah fine but you better watch him and make sure it comes back in. I was kinda annoyed with this remark seeing as how I had been in many times before but let it slide cut the pipe and handed them back the cutter. Now if they stocked 2.5in od pipe I wouldn't have needed that in the first place.
So later on that night around 8pm I returned to the store with my friend, his new van which we were going to buy about $300 worth of parts and accessories for and his dog a 6 month old blue pitbull puppy who remained in the van.
As we where looking around the younger employee wanted to see the van and the dog (since I have been in there so many times he knew me well enough to check things out). Anyways we came back in with a fitting and asked the employee to help us find the right tool to remove the transmission line. He started opening the packages which were held together with one staple. He said it was fine to open them aslong as we put things back. While this was going one Ken was stairing at us. He then grab the employee and said quietly to not open packages but my friend did not hear this. After that was said the employee told Ken (the manager) that he wishes he had a pitbull like my friends and how much he loves them. Ken (the manager) then said "I should shoot that dog"...(employee said something to back pitbulls) ken then said "they are bread for fighting and are bad dogs. At somepoint they will attack someone and there owners are thugs and only want them to fight". I over head this and replied "that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard". He started to say something but my friend interupted with "that's ok... he is just speaking in ignorance". Ken then replied "why dont you come over here and say that to my face". We laughed and said "what so you can hurt us". This being said within 2 mins of him saying he should shoot the dog (leaving us wondering if he actually was crazy and had a gun.) He also began to yell at us for opening tool packages even though before this the employee had been helping us open them (we only opened 2 packs and you couldn't even tell since one was already opened). So we put everything back... I even had knocked over some cleaning rags but I restacked them. My friend really needed the tool so he bought it. We told the manager that he shouldn't speak to us like that and that he should refer to us as "sir or atleast speak kindly since we are buying things." I then said "I will be reporting you to the managers at the Portland store (since I know them) and I will be contacting the regional manager. He remarked " ha you mean Jim... I know him... we are friends". I then said well I spend thousands here between me and my friends each month on parts fluids and cleaning supplies. I will be taking all my business elsewhere". Ken replied "like you ever buy anything"... I said "well I guess as one of you "best" customers I dont buy much... right?" Anyways I am asking for others to avoid useing this store if possible. Maybe this way they will learn to respect costomers. Tomorrow I plan on fileing a complaint with the district manager and trying to talk with some people I know at the Portland store. I hope this guy loses his job and knows why. You dont threaten a customer and you dont say you should kill their dog. Thanks for listening to my rant.
