Mercedes 550SL encounter

The wife and I were on are way to the Mill store in Scarborough. I get on 95 in Biddeford and always go thru the right most lane to pay my buck and the north bound entrance is on the right. Just as I shifted into 2nd I see a silver MBSL cutting across from the left lane and getting on it to beat me to the entrance, I punched it and we entered the entrance with me a half car ahead, shifted into 3rd and he fell behind me. We both come roaring onto 95. I slowed down because of the traffic in the right lane and he shot into the far left lane and got on it. I eventually pulled up behind him prior to him existing at Saco / OOB to see it was an 550SL. Looked pretty new and had monster wide tires on it. His plate had red D`s on both ends, looked like a Maine plate, anyone know what type of plate that is ? My wife says to me you havn`t changed one bit in over 40 years.

I didn't see one with D's on it. could it possibly be one of the Maine Senate or House plates? not sure why there would be a D on them but who knows...

I looked up the specs on the 550Sl. Base price 102K, 385 hp, wt 4300 lbs. Who ever this guy was I wonder what he thought when he saw the back on my car with Subaru Leagacy PZEV

It's the Maine D***** plate. To get it, you have to spend over $100K on a car that you don't know how to drive.
