anybody have feedback about meth? i've been playing with the idea for a while, and i'm just not sure if spending the money for a nice meth setup is:

A) worth it

thing is, i have no plans to run the kind of power that stinate was running, i will be putting around happily around 300whp.

 
Meth is a much safer way to go than other routes. I have read into it a lot and been around some guys cars that are running it. I have been close to the cusp of doing it myself. But I have other problems to worry about right now.

With a meth setup on the wrx you could easy put down 300whp. Most cases it is just as safe as running gas. Given as long as

1) You mix the meth to water ratio right

2) Have a pro install and tune it for you. Other wise you could over spray and wash your cylinder walls or something crazy.

3) Be running the car hard and forget to fill the resovior up and then go into high boost with nothing. This is way they make warning lights and most good systems will send the car to limp mode if the level gets to low.

Most systems I have seen on sti's will last between 2-3 fill ups at the tank so basicly every 2-3 times you fill your car up with gas you have to fill the meth tank up. So not to bad.

 
I to have had interest in this..... BUT I'm just not too sure I like it as an option for a daily driver. I think on the average most folks don't spend the money to buy kits that have the correct safety systems. There is just no room for error if it fails.

It stops pumping and you don't know... BOOM

Spring a leak... BOOM

Its a really awesome way to add some top end to your buggy, but at what cost?

Like I said in the other post most good systems have all the saftey stuff added in with it. If the pump fails or stops pumping there car goes to limp mode and warns you, if you forget to fill it there is a warning light and it warns you.

This is a fine example of a good kit. Plus you can even attach there low level indiacator to this for and extra $20 not a bad deal. As you can read in the desription it will deable boost if it senses a failure.

 
Oh I understand how it works. Just seems like a lot to worry about for a DD.

But I don't know where else to tell you to go for more power phil.... Unless you just go for a bigger turbo.

Using meth just to get yourself to 300hp seems silly. FP 68HTA

Just remember guys just because its on a DD doesn't mean you have to use it daily....... have two maps made one with drugs and one without. I will be doing this in the near future.

this is a nice turn on for the 08+ STI's you have a selector switch. Nice thing about it a Protune can retune the factory selector switch so you can make your economy selection into a super eco mode and protune the more oem agressive map to be even more aggresive. So more power is at the turn of a knob.

 
Having meth in my opinion is really only if you are really hungry for power. If your not going to bother in other areas I would leave it alone. Its just one more cost to deal with. As far as safety I trust it completly there are many failsafes available and the stock ecu will pull timing at the very least.

 
i can picture my wife turning it to the meth setting not knowing what it does and not arming the meth...................... kaaaapoww.
