Mice in car!!

Chris

YARRR SUBY MONSTER!!
So a while ago I posted about mice in my mom's '06 outback engine bay. This is a car that is daily driven. Rarely goes 12 hours without being on the road.

Well, now there are mice INSIDE the car. In the last half hour we have caught 4 in one of those kindness traps! Afraid they are going to eat the wiring or something. Do you think there's a nest? And how the hell do you get mice inside your car??

get a couple boxes of mothballs.

check the glovebox, the spare tire area, under the hood (inspect the hood liner), and check under all the seats.

other than that, you can get a black light bulb and you can track them with the trails that glow in the black light.

the mothballs tend to keep them out. also if this car is stored in a garage, start looking for them in the garage.

Will do the moth balls.

I have already checked the hood, but yea, I need to do a more thorough check inside.

Didn't think about the black light idea. If this doesn't end I'll have to try that.

car is kept outside.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Interesting, I'd never have though of that. There might be some out in the garden. I'll have to check tomorrow. This is getting old, I was driving the car the other day and a mouse bit my foot! No kidding. Now I'm not afraid of mice or anything, but when they are biting me when I'm driving it kinda pisses me off, if you know what I mean...

Is food left in the car on a regular basis?
doubt it, mom is obsessed with keeping things clean.

My car, on the other hand, is parked down the hill literally in the forest. And it is always a mess and I probably have food in it. And don't have issues with mice. And on top of that I haven't even been driving it much this summer because of my home made moped.

So I find it weird they went for her car when mine is obviously an easier and more nourishing target...

If chamomile doesn't work, use the good old bowl of antifreeze on them

with a little Peanut Butter around the rim.

I have one set up in the garage year round. 10 so far since winter.

x2 on the mothballs! I used it a few times over the years, take some spray paint caps and put a few in them and put them around the different areas in the car. It doesn't take many and you won't get an over powering smell of mothballs.

We fight the mice too...Try the old alaskan mouse trap..bucket half filled with water, string across bucket, peanut butter in middle.mouse atempts to get food falls and drowns, change bucket every few days...

my dad had them in this truck, whenever the truck was in the garage we just put some mouse traps in the truck with peanut butter on them, took care of it. Just remember to close the doors softly as to not set off the traps
