My epic fail buying a turbo

SO.....I've waited past the last minute to replace my turbo. It's smoking badly. Went to Grimmspeed and found what seemed to be a great deal. The ad read....."TD04 turbo PnP, ceramic coated. $250. In stock" WOW !!! so I ordered it. $287.56 with shipping. Next day I get a fed-x notice that a 22lb package is coming. YAY!! Wondering if they'd be interested in my worn turbo as a rebuild core I call them.......turns out they ONLY do the PnP and ceramic on turbos you send to them. They don't rebuild them......at all. Check out the site, it really reads like you are getting a turbo when you order! SO they gladly refund my $287.56. BUT I used paypal so I won't get it for 5 to 7 days. I go on ebay and miss out on a 16000 mile turbo for $120 by seconds. I then find one for $150 with 30000 miles. I buy it using buy it now and pay with paypal right away. An hour later I get an email from the seller (100% positive feedback) saying the paypal address listed on his ebay account is wrong and could I please use this other address. I go to paypal to cancel the purchse......they've already withdrawn the funds

I'll get them back in 7 days or so. At this point I'm out $487.56.....temporarily .......but still..... I then send the guy another $150 to the new address. 24 hours goes by and nothing from him. No conformation, no shipping details...nothing. On a whim I check ebay for turbo's, and it's still listed and people are bidding on it!!!!!!

I get his cell number from ebay customer support and call. It's out of service. I send emails....nothing. I send texts...nothing. I then realize why he wanted me to use a different paypal, it doesn't show as paid on ebay that way. So I open a dispute with ebay and paypal. I will get that money back also....eventually. By March 7th thru the 10th. So now I am out $587.56 and have no turbo. I will get all this money back in a few weeks, but until then I have very little funds left to continue looking for a turbo, and my car is smoking really bad

I could have gotten mine rebuilt for $250 but I didn't want my car out of action for 10 days or so. Turns out that would have been quicker than this mess

Any luck?
No, not yet thanks. I have gotten some of my money back, but the rest is gonna take a few more weeks. I'm taking it to Meyagi for a leakdown test. I'm reading so much conflicting info on turbo wear and lifespan that I want to make sure it's not something else.
Try this guy too, http://slcsubaru.com...ead.php?tid=118. If you can't see it, it's a vendor in Utah who has tons and tons of Subaru parts. Better yet, here's the same place on NASIOC http://forums.nasioc...d.php?t=2161160
Thanks I appreciate the help. I'm gonna check them out but I need to get the rest of my money back before I can do much.

I was asking because I have a spare TD04. It's for my project car but I'm thinking of getting a bigger one before getting it tuned so I don't waste the time/money to get it tuned twice. It has about 50k on it iirc with no damage/shaft play.
