i hope someone can help me. i have a 1992 subaru legacy with a 2.2 liter the timing belt failed. i replaced the belt but now the car wont start. it will hit a little if i hold the the gas pedal to he floor but it floods real easy. any help you can give i would be very grateful. thank you... mitch bowen

double and triple-check timing. lucky 4 u the 2.2 is non interference, or you'd be shopping a new motor instead of tweaking timing!

being off a tooth or 2 would easily cause probs you are reporting

i have checked the timing several times. we lined up the lines on the belt with the marks on the gears. everything seems to be right

ok guys thanks for your input. it was a problem with the timing after all i made a rookie mistake.i was timing off the mark on the chrank gear as you all know this is wrong. i guess to many years working on american cars. i will know better next time.

yay for another 92 legacy!!!!

Glad you got it going. Lucky you're dealing with a non-interference. Saved my butt when my waterpump seized

Glad you got it figured out!! Yeah 2.2's up until 97 were non interference!! Lucky for you!! And welcome!!

Un-bend the tabs, then use a pipe wrench to un-wind the inner. Once busted free you can spin it by hand.
