My moped!!

Chris

YARRR SUBY MONSTER!!
There's another thread somewhere with pics of my home built moped, but I spent 10 minutes searching and can't find it because the search feature is acting stupid. Anyway. It was warm today so I fired it up and made a vid

hahaha nice, i think that I would break it though cause I am a wild man on things like that
Yeah, we would have broke something (or ourselves) jumping it in your woods.

Sweet project though, looks like it rips along pretty good.

I have broken it a lot. Doing things like jumping it through the woods... And I've come very close to breaking myself.

Let's see, things I've broken:

The frame.

all the engine studs. at the same time as that ^

the rear wheel (been though 4)

the front wheel (twice)

chain

muffler

intake pipe

cracked a fuel tank

wrecked one seat hitting a tree

broke my helmet.

So I've broken pretty much every part besides the engine. It has around 3500 miles. Most of which is road riding, but a lot of blatant abuse on trails too... On the trails it gets beat on, and on the road I run it WOT ALL THE TIME! So it never gets any rest besides when it's snowy. But I'm working on spiked tires for lake riding to maximize my abuse on the poor thing

nice. Yeah as Dan mentioned we are known to beat on poor recreational vehicles in the woods and one more then one occasion break ourselves. Glad to see you are not afraid to put it to uh !

about 120MPG if the carb isn't on a drinking binge

But there are some plans in store for the poor thing... bigger carb, intake pipe and exhaust. Ported intake and exhaust, and ported transfer ports from the crank case to the cylinder. I've already raised the compression and run it on high octain with synthetic 2-stroke oil.

just plop in the motor from a stihl 660 or 880 magnum chainsaw. the 880 is around 90 cc (i think) and the 660 spins stupid fast (and not much smaller)

Hmm, it isn't quite as easy as just "plop in a motor". It would require a good deal of fabbing. But that would be AWESOME!!

i know it's never that easy, but think of the power of 90 cc's of screaming stihl goodness. i bet it'd keep up with my ninja 250!

I don't want to kill myself either... I do have a 13.5HP honda 4-stroke sitting around looking for a project ............................

yeah, a four stroke would have better torque, but little top end and lower rpms. keep the 66 2 stroke

Yea, most 4-strokes will top out around 3600RPM and not be as snappy on the revs. And lower power to weight ratio. I can rev about 7500 or 8000rpm with the 66cc. I'm always on the look for a better 2-stroke though.

I can fab something up and do some welding if I find something nice.
