My Subie crunched again!

Well some dumbass decided to play games tonight while I was on may way to work and brake checked me so hard I had no place to go. I wasn't even that close to him at least a car length. I think he was out for a settlement because he told the P.D. that he knew the law and anyone behind is at fault. Which is not always true. Any way here are some pics.

what the heck Adam...??

I'm surprised you didn't rip his head off and throw his body into the river.....

Believe me I wanted to! He got out of his car and started running his beaters, I climbed out a said what I thought of him and his driving, he slinked back to his car and hid behind his door. I continued to berate him , then went to call the P.D. he braves up and says "Oh yeah you call the cops" I looked and said " your fawkin right I'm calling the cops!" I guess he may get some paperwork for not having a Maine lic. I hope he has insurance, he had a card but maybe that's it. Maybe it was canceled?

It is not necessarily the fault of the person behind. Brake checking with the intent to cause an accident, or the "Swoop in and brake" maneuver, is insurance fraud if you can prove it. Gray area. Good luck.

Yeah, anytime anyone admits to brake checking it is their fault. I just hope he has insurance and didn't cancel after getting a card.

rather than jumping on the goombah who cut off 05, it might be more productive for all the STMers to remember that you have to drive defensively on the road. too many asshats, you gotta protect yourself from them. after the sheet metal gets croonched, it doesn't matter a sh*t who's at fault, it's just too late.

here's a number for ya: average reaction time to go from driving along minding your own business to hitting the brakes and taking evasive action is typically 1.5 seconds (one of the reasons rally drivers left-foot-brake is that it cuts reaction time baisically in half) . Well, at 60 mph, reaction time means you travel 132 feet before you even have a prayer of missing the asshat.

At 30 mph that is 66 feet which is 4 car lengths. if 05 was "at least a car length away" there wasn't much room for error -- even if it was the other guy's error.

not trying to be a nag or your mom or your driver ed teacher -- jusx pointing out FACTS of why and how you got to watch out and leave yourself some room for asshats!

damn man should bashed his head of his steering wheel so he was unconcious and dumped a beer on him and told the cops he passed out in front of you and you tried to get out of the way. YOUR INSURANCE SHOULD COVER IT, IF YOU HAVE FULL COVERAGE.

Yeah I know about the distances I've been through EVOC the car length was the third brake check and I was starting to turn left to go into the left lane and not frig with him. I looked in my mirror and over my shoulder and when I looked back he had already jammed his brakes and the ass of his car was up in the air (as you can see on my bumper that's the bottom of his bumper) so there was no time to do anything and I think most drivers would have hit him square.

A big brush guard would be nice.

No need although I would like to bash his head, he admitted to brake checking 3 times cause he didn't like me behind him. If he does have current insurance he will pay but if not mine will cover it and go after him civilly.
