I have a passengers rear brake line leaking on my 97 Impreza Brighton and I was wondering what size brake line it takes so I can buy some. Any other information would be great as well cuz ive never done Brake lines before.

You will need a brake line flaring tool as well. And new fittings to go with the new line. And make sure you put the fitting on the line before you flare it!!

just sell the car to me and don't worry about it

I figured all that just the major part is finding out what size the lines are... jess found that they are either 3/16 or 5/16 so if all else fails ill get both lol

nice try Gabe what would you want with that car any way? Itd just cramp your style next to all your fast ones

theres two styles of flares, double or bubble. youll need to verify which one you have and reflare it that way.

oh ok thanks a regular flare tool will work for both right? how do I do a double or a bubble flare? lol never done this stuff so im at a loss

nope, there different flaring tools all together. you can rent one at vip for cheap money, comes with the instructions, and youll get your money back once you return it.

wow im glad you told me all this... looks like im heading to vip tomorrow... any suggestions on brand of brake line?

thanks a bunch for the info chris ill prob just get both tools if they are cheap to rent just in case my luck hasnt been the greatest with that car this past week so im not taking any chances lol

Tools are not cheap.. I bought a double flare tool because I seem to dick with brake stuff a lot. And it was something like $50 for a half way decent one.

youll have two choices from us, individual lengths with different flares and fittings....pick what you need and go or you can buy a roll of line, its usually outback, copper in color, very flexable, no tubing bender needed. youll have to get fittings and a flare tool. should be able to return the left over length, comes in like a 25 foot roll, check with them to see if theyll let you. you shouldnt need much though if its in the rear, I think it comes out in front of the rr tire and splits to both rear brakes.

NAPA. Just take the line off, find out the length and buy it at napa. they sell different lengths for imports. Double flare, right size fitting. then bend it and good to go...
