Need Some help

Ok so I have a Phase 2 2.2 that spun a rod bearing in my 99 OBS and for the past few weeks ive been tinkering around with it and now I need some info and help on Head bolt torque specs, I watched a vid on youtube about an 8 step torque sequence and want to make sure its right and need to know if theres any special way I have to take them out. Another thing is when I took the timing cover off on the motor that I pulled out with the spun rod bearing all the pulleys and everything look immaculate so I was wondering if its too hard to swap all those over to the motor that im putting in and also what are the timing positions. I know im asking a lot but ive never done this before and I don't want to screw it up. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

The torque sequences and specs can be found online. I'll see if I can find them for you. And as for the pulleys, if you spin them, and they make no noise, than yes, you can swap them over to the new motor. Set the timing marks on the 2 cam gears and the crank an then put the new belt on with them in those positions. You will need to compress the tensioner before installing it, and then once the belt is on, and the timing marks are set right, release the tensioner. Then turn it over a couple times by hand.

all the pulleys on the motor you got from me are brand new (sub 8k miles) BTW, just saving you some work!

Yea I did notice that although I didnt get the drivers side cam pulley cuz that's the side that got hit... Hey BTW I found a 15 millimeter socket on the motor I believe is yours lol

so was the timing belt changed then too? if so would it be ok to use that too cuz it still looks in really good shape as well

And if a mod wants to sticky those links, I think it would be a good idea to have them here

I second that motion.. Ive been searching and searching for a Repair manual for that style motor and I don't think Haynes or Chilton don't make one for that style.

those articles you posted are helping a little bit but all the pics are of the older style 2.2 and I don't know if the specs are the same

Yes the specs will be the same. It's the same frickin motor, just a couple slight differences.

thanks for that link benson it came in very handy. it seems like that is telling me to just line the marks on the belt with the notches on the cam and crank pulleys but I thought you had to line the pulleys up with a mark on the motor. now ive heard different information so im not sure what to do if anyone can plz just explain to me straight up how to get my timing belt on

You have to line the marks up on all 3. Marks on belt have to be lined up with marks on cam pulleys, and those all have to be lined up on the marks on the motor.

Writing this, I know that you already have the belt on

Subarewah, where are you located? Maybe myself and one of the guys on here can come by and help you out, over some beers or something?

Thanks for the offer Jamesonc ill have to keep that in mind, maybe you could help me out when I do the transmission in my 97 impreza lol... Timing belt is all on and im 99% positive its been done right. All that's left is replace the clutch and pressure plate then drop it in and re attach everything. Then hopefully it starts right up lol
