New Brake Pads

N/A All The Way!!
So, Evergreen set me up with a nice new 2010 Forester while they fixed up my car last week (thanks again guys!). Long story short, the Forester brakes much better than my Impreza and I'm starting to get that nice brake screech while I'm rolling through town. Its time for new brake pads and probably get the rotors turned.

So, what kind of brake pads are folks suggesting?....keep in mind that I just want some durability and reliability, I'm not taking the car to the races!

Might be good to get someone from Evergreen to chime in...I'm getting the job done there anyway.

might want to take a measurment of the old rotors and check the spec on min. thickness...ive never had good luck on turning rotors and then keeping them from warping....obviously your brakes make a lot of heat and having them to thin or close to it just invites a nice vibration while braking.....i think we charge $13 a rotor for turning at vip, not sure of what a dealer may charge....the charge of a turning and the price of a rotor may be something to keep in mind

Hawk HPS or Hawk ceramic (ultra low dust).

In the past I also got a free set of Akimbo brake pads (got selected to try new product). They were awesome and dusted even lower compared to the Hawk HPS pads. The only downside to them was they wore down real quick.

dont buy vip rotors....cheap crap made in china.....i just got rotors and pads for my rs from icp [ international car parts] for 80 bucks....since i work at vip i get all the discounted prices from all the shops around, napa, carquest, icp, api....and others...

Hawk Pads. Turn whatever rotors you have. Get better ones once the ones you have are toast or if they warp 2 seconds after they get turned.
