New guy , 98 legacy from rockland/appleton.

fattie

fat kid
Found this car in rockland , guy wanted 500 but I got it for a sweet 225. could really use a nice set of wheels , headers and exhaust. underneath the car is about as perfect as can get for a 98 here on the midcoast. 2 little spots of rust above each rear fender , fuel filler is rusted out , got a funnel shoved in there.

car has 221k miles , autotragic , massive oil leak somewhere. runs and drives decent though.

Sweet deal! Welcome to the forum.

Fuel filler is pretty easy, bratman on here is selling a decent used one cheap!

There isn't a whole lot on these cars that's really very hard to fix.

cool , he lives pretty close. id like to do the headgaskets as there is some white smoke coming from the exhaust , but car doesn't overheat. I took a look around in the engine bay and it doesn't appear they will be to difficult to change , and I looked up a how to for the timing belt and that doesn't seem to hard either. but it would be nice if someone local to me knew how to do these and would be willing to lend a hand.

I'm not overly local, but I could lend a hand same day I have free.

Once the engine is all warmed up, come back from a drive and check the coolant overflow. If it has bubbles in it, then your HG is done.

When I put an ej22 with blown head gaskets into my car (don't ask...) It had bubbles in the overflow, and smoked white.

well I can compensate to some extent , beer , money , food , a few good laughs lol. only tools I don't have is a torque wrench and most open end wrenches or BIG sockets. the car isn't inspected or registered but ive taken it up and down the road a few miles , ill do it again today and check for bubbles.

does anyone have any experience with the subaru place on rt90 in rockport ? im wondering if they stock things like oil filters and headgaskets. id like to stick with oem as much as possible.
