Hi!

I'm a new member and have just purchased an 04 Forester. The first and more practical question - Has anyone had problems with the 04's window motor? I'm wondering if it's burnt out or if it could be just a fuse or something. The second and more random question is about roof racks. I'm debating whether or not to remove the roof racks. Would it look better without them? Opinions? Thanks!

Well, I've always added racks to all my vehicles because I use them for hauling bikes, snowboards, kayaks etc...it's just whatever you personally think looks good. You can remove the crossbars in about 3 minutes with one hex driver. Try it and see if you like the look. It may cut down on some wind noise.

Welcome to the forum, I've always liked the 04-05 Forester body style the best of all the generations.

The window not working could be a couple things. It could be the switch, or it could be the motor. Might have to pull it apart and test it. If you don't use the racks, I vote to pull them off. It gives it a nice clean look, and may even be more aerodynamic!!

Thanks! If they are that easy to remove, I'll try it and just put them on when needed!

Thanks, door panel off and testing is underway. I think the racks are coming off, too!

just power the motor and see if it moves, reverse connection and should go the other direction...test for power and ground from switch to motor and then power and ground from fuse box through door to switch.....easy right!!!!
