Well I work as a car salesman at dealership and I just bought a 05 RS as a whole sale for $3800 with only 70k. The motor has a slight knock/tick can't tell if its a head or a piston. Noise is coming from drivers side of the engine. But is drivable anyone have any ideas? Only makes noise at a cruising speed and it quiet as can be when you get after it.

Welcome, may be a little piston slap. Run it till the motor dies then do a swap:) Better yet, turbo it so it dies earlier THEN do a swap:)

Depending on the level of the noise comming from the engine, it may be considered normal. That said, my 2009 WRX has almost 55,000 miles on it and it only makes the slightest noise at idle when the oil is old and getting low. My buddies 2002 OBS makes quite a clatter, but it comes and goes. Its made that noise for over 100,000 miles now. It started making noise at around 40,000 miles if I remember right. I think its due to how its treated and how ofted its serviced, but its debatable.

Oh, and welcome to the Mainely Subarus Forums.

Welcome aboard! What part of the 207 are you from? Congrats on the purchase too. I almost bought an 04 RS 2.5 but got an 07 Impreza instead. Have fun with it!

Welcome!! Sounds like the normal piston slap. Probably not an issue at all, most of them do it.

Well I have the money now to do a swap or if I'm lucky the noise is in the head and only need to do that

mine's made noises when you're barely on the throttle since it was brandy new. still loud at times. run 'er

I finally pulled the motor and now have it completely apart and found out it spun a rod bearing.
