There's an '04 STI for sale here, but remember that there were a lot of little changes in '05.

Welcome rob!

If you can find a clean 2005 STi, buy it!

2004 was the first model year STi, & usually a first model year should be avoided, if possible.

(Granted, the '04 wasn't deeply flawed, but '05 added 1/2" rim width, yaw sensing, & that's a great improvement, along with many other odds n' ends, some quite important, some, cosmetic.)

California & Florida's got lots of F/S STIs, look into eBay, as well.

Don't be afraid to travel, cars in the NE take a beating, unless stored.

$20-$23K will get you an about-perfect STi, if you drop $30K, you can buy a magazine-cover grade, built STi.

A "Modified Magazine" cover STi, w at least $80K in it, sold on eBay three mos. ago for $28K.

It was a 95 point car, easily. Those are easier to come by, the $30K STi "monster car", than you'd think.

eBay will shock you.

Keep us posted on your search, and good luck.

Oh yeah-Welcome to MS!

this is very helpful...I don't know too much about Sti's as I like to know...I've checked ebay the past week and there are some pretty good deals I think...I'll have to check fl craigslist to see if there's anything...thanks for help

Welcome. I always ask, but rarely get an answer... How did you find Mainely Subarus?

Good luck with your search, and try to make it out to our monthly meet (this wednesday) and check out all the cars.

Pass on Craigslist. Too many scams and stolen cars.

Ebay is the best source for tuned cars, Evergreen Subaru for sourcing OEM (stock) STIs.

If you have a list of STi Qs, write 'em up and drop me a PM, am always happy to help newbies avoid the pratfalls I've experienced-search my username for my '05 STi build thread for the painful

details, lol!

Come to the meet, it'll be fun and you can check out some cars.

If you like, I'll take you around the block in my (built-as-hell) STi, then go for a spin in a WRX-if Wzrd goes to the meet, his '06 WRX would be a good oem benchmark ride, as well.

Lastly, if Pat shows up, take a ride in his Infinity G35.

That shows you what happens when you beat the absolute SNOT out of a car.

I've heard good things about them (evergreen)....another thing i've been stuck on is whether or not i wanna buy a stock sti or get an already done and tuned one...if i get a stock one ill get more sense of accomplishment and pride by saying "I did the work to it with the help of so and so's ect" rather than saying "It was done before i got it" and know barely anything about the car

hahahaha just made my day:D

Honestly, of all of the STIs that have been modified on here, I think its a very good idea not to go crazy. Little suspension mods are fine, but don't screw with the engine. Remember, its a fast car already!
