Hello Guys and Gals,

I am new to this forum, and I don't have a Subaru but I play on purchasing one soon. Main reason I am registered on this forum is to learn a little bit about them before I buy one and also to maybe connect some of the Mainely Subaru members of this forum, with a Waterville based car club.

So, anyways, needless to say I hope to be apart of this community with, or without a Subaru. Hope that is ok with some of the members here if not most.

Thanks, seems like a well put together forum.

Regards,

- Brian (aka: EclipseJunky)

P.S - Any recommendations on a specific Subaru I should be looking at? Feedback is welcomed and encouraged.

Welcome.

No worry that you don't have a subaru (yet) , it's no big deal.

As for looking to get into one, budget? Impreza, Forester, Legacy; sedan or wagon?

Welcome aboard Brian. You can still attend our meetings even if you don`t have a Subaru yet. My son son has attended several meetings with his 09 Spyder GT 6 speed

So whats the deal with your eclipse? Are you looking for something fast or practical or a little of both?

Anyway, welcome to the forum. the people here are brought together by subarus in one way or another but it's not why they get along. It's pretty easy to get to like people on here. Just show up, bring a good attitude and everyone will welcome you in with open arms. And let us know what you're looking for usage out of the car. a WRX is a good staple of a car on here. Any Impreza is well worth the money. If you like sedans stick with those or if you like wagons and want the extra room of one, get one of those. Either way and you can get a NA Impreza or WRX, or a late model STI in hatch, or earlier Sedan STI. A Forester is always a good bet too. They look like toasters, but don't be fooled, the XTs are killer machines. and you can pack up an entire 3rd world's army into one of those things! If you want something a little more comfy, look into Legacy's. a GT is sporty and comfy, or a SPEC B is a family sedan (complete with wood grain interior accents) that can spank most cars out there without breaking a sweat. Most people stick with turbos on here, but the NA engines will last longer than the cars will and a properly maintained turboed engine will last pretty darn long. 201k on my WRX... You could always get something like an outback sport if you want to crash through the woods with it too.

Hows that for a little bit of info? we basically need to know what you want to use it for and then we can make a proper suggestion. I don't think you can go wrong with a WRX though. If you get an STI, you'll be tempted to pull a 'nate' and spend way too much money on it and blow the engine and just pour a ton more into it. (short version) lol

Wow awesome, thank you all for the inviting responses! I was thinking about a WRX or Evo, is something bad about the EVO or Lancers as well? (Yes, asking this on a Subaru forum I know haha). But, a new or old style WRX is probably what I was thinking about getting. Thanks all for the warm welcomes even though I have a front wheel drive vehicle haha
