No oil change for 30k miles = fail

wow! I would never buy a rental. Trust me I drive them like I stole them so knowing how I drive the damn things I wouldn't touch it myself.

So your`re one of the guys that test all the rentals like Road & Track test their cars

ps: did you get my pm from last Friday ?

Al used to work for a dealer. He said never buy a rental, loaner or off-lease. EVAR!!!!!!!

I've seen customers come in that haven't changed the oil in their Cobalt for 15k and want us to warranty the motor. No. I've seen a lot of engines with sludge and/or catastrophic damage, but nothing like that. The oil was literally cooked in the motor.

Nasty.

I use Amsoil's 0-50W Synth with their hi-perf racing filter in the STi.

Good for 7500-10K with minimal>no breakdown.

I keep 5w-30 Royal Purple in the RX-8, it's great oil, as well.

Screw Mobil-1, either of the above are superior, imo.

I wish I still had my test data from Blackstone Labs.

They told me to ditch the Royal Purple because it was crap. Mobil 1 got a good score when I had it tested out of my car.

Interesting.

I use Amsoil in the STi, I know it's AAAA-Grade synth.

RP has a good rep, I dropped it in the RX and haven't had any issues.

On your say-so, I'll dump it, who needs deposits?

I went 35,000 miles with my old 92 Subaru Loyale without changing the oil. It went great and everyday it was beat on and revved to around 7000 RPMS, it had over 200,000 miles when I got rid of it and still went till the body rotted away a few years later. Too bad newer cars can't do that

I tested oils for about the first 25,000 miles of my car. I started with RP then I went to Mobil 1 and then Redline fluid.

To keep the test true and not have any mixed oils when I sent them to Blackstone. I would run RP for 2 full oil changes then turned in a test sample then I would run Mobil 1 for 2 test runs then I sent it in then the same for Redline.

Redline was bar none the best I tested. But I couldn't get over the price tag so I settled back to the Mobil 1. Blackstone labs said it was a good oil that had ton of additive left and high viscosity still.

All test were run with the oil changes done at 3000 miles.

It took awhile but it was worth it. Now I am setting up for the test of the new Valvoline full syn. Next oil change I have to send the sample in and see how it comes back.

I've used Amsoil in several of my cars and sent samples off to blackstone. None of them came back with anything bad to say. I'll be sending in the 09's Amsoil oil after its second change.

I have heard amsoil is bar none the best oil that money can buy. But I can't see paying almost $15 a qt for my car when its not a track car. I change my oil every 3k miles. I don't care what anyone tells me or what oil manufactors post on there product. Every 3k miles oil is changed regardless of brand or type.

my 318 ZJ gets the oil changed every 3500 with valvoline high milage syn blend and a can of restore. runs amazing and im going to put the same in my subie.

I've used Mobil 1, and now I currently use Royal Purple with no problems.

The boys over on NASIOC avoid Mobil 1 and Royal Purple now it seems like. They say Rotella is the way to go.
