just picked up our first subaru... a 02 wrx wagon automatic for my daughters... one owner... no mods... very clean... only problem we've had with it is its hard to start after it warms up... it starts easy when its cold... but if you drive any distance where it warms up... it doesn't want to start up immediately... it takes a few tries and runs fine after... and sometimes the check engine light stays on after... i will be checking the forum for leeds on what it could be tonight... ive included some pics... and thanks for any input submitted in advance...

i will post the problem im having with it on the correct part of the forum... perhaps someone else has had the same problem and has found a solution...

welcome. dig the wagon. my 02 wrx starts a little hard sometimes as well. no clue what causes it. it will turn over and over for a few seconds and then finally vroooom. only does it every now and then and runs mint so i don't worry about it.

 
what code is the light saying when you pull it???

is the fuel pump relay clicking or the fp turning on?

could be a bad battery, weak alt, bad cps, bad temp sensor, fp relay, tps, tgv motor, o2 sensor, ecu, etc etc etc... figure out the code and we can tell you more. I have a code reader if you need one... but autozone in sopo will do it for free.

i was almost on "E" today so i went to fill the tank up with premium... the problem i was having has stopped... apparently my wife put regular fuel in... and i think the wrx didn't like it... no more check engine light... and starts first try every time... im still going to get the codes checked tomorrow... i will update as soon as i do... thanks everyone for the help and advice...

 
Yeah the turbo models should have premium gas run in them. Hopefully that was the problem!!

 
The wagon passed inspection no problem...but it had a bad cam sensor... my mechanic handled it... and the cost was fairly inexpensive... the wagon runs great... and is ready for my kids to drive it... now i don't know if i want to give it to them... i love it...cool...quick little car...
