Norms

So I'm looking for a new place to have my car worked on. Hopefully it never breaks again... but if it does...

The obvious choice is EG because they have such a good rep on this site, but the problem is that EG is an hour and a half drive on a good day. They do have loaners though (unlike the previous shop I used...), so I wouldn't have to get someone to me up, and dropping me back off. After the summer I'll be living in the Portland area though so it will be possible to more easily get to EG.

But Norms in wiscasset is only 25 or so mins from me right now, so it would be much easier for me to use them.

How are they?

I know little about their service, I bought my car there, a bit overpriced, but they replaced some non-warranty stuff for me after about a month of owning it. So in terms of that, I have to say they are good honest people for being nice to a college student. I talked to the techs and they are really nice.

The other encounter with them is Ben's (lateralized) engine that had some defects... But used stuff is, as the name implies, used, so having a good look at it is crucial.

Anyway, anyone use Norm's, and have good or bad to say about them?

This is where i bought my Waggy! This coming Monday i am having my timing belt replaced! I have had good communication with them and they are pretty nice! I'll see monday if they do i good job on the belt which i bet they will...i recommend it!

My fiancee bought her 98 lgt there. shes had some work done there as well! timing belt...etc. They seem very reliable and friendly.

Just wanted opinions about Norm's in case something breaks...

They are ok. They can screw you one day, and help you out the next. Act like you know what you're talking about and if you have any issues, talk to Norm directly. I have had things wrong with both my cars I have bought there, and when I take them back, they say there was nothing wrong but the obvious problems are mysteriously fixed! Hmmm, I guess they just don't like to fess up to there being something wrong with a car that just lefty the lot. Honestly, there is a lot of stuff I could give you a hand with, just let me know.

No prob! I just did front brakes on my step dads outback so yeah. They can sometimes be a real pain cause of all the rust, but I got a propane torch and pb blaster so it's all good!! Let me know, I should be able to give you a hand some weekend. And yes, I'd love to show off my old Suby's They aren't perfect but they are pretty rare around these parts! If you wouldn't mind, maybe you could come to my place and do it, so if anything happened, I'd have all my tools etc. I don't have a lot of room, but I make do!!
