.......So I'm wondering what year(s) the Imprezas and OBS went to 2.5 liter engines.

And what are the major differences between the 2.5i and OBS? Higher springs?

 
The Impreza didn't go completely to 2.5 until 2002. Up until then, they were 2.2 except for the RS. Same goes for the OBS, all 2.2 until the change in body style which was 2002. And then, the "regular" Imprezas were 2.5, and the WRX's were 2.0's until 2006

 
No prob:D And I'm not completely sure about the difference between the OBS and 2.5i. I know that the OBS is two tone(obvious)and I think the springs are a little stiffer

 
A little OT here but.....

Not to get sappy, this is what I like about this forum. I know the information is out there somewhere, but instead of getting flamed about searching, I get a nice civil conversation.

 
Yeah me too. This is one of the very few places that happens. I hate asking questions and getting made to feel stupid for asking

 
when i bought my 2.5i i didn't look too much at the difference, but aside from the suspension and paint i think there's just a few extras inside

and i agree about the civil conversations, i know guys on v-dub forums that would be ridiculed for such a question. it's much more nicer here
