good?? well it wasn't toast. but the pressure is a little higher now and it recovers a lot faster. and the vertic is still out on the noise im chaseing. so in gonna fix it the easy way. take off the radiator cap and then put a new engine underneath >

Wasn't it you I told to check the timing belt tensioner. Let me guess, it knocks at or around idle and goes away as rev's climb?

They sell a tool called a oil pressure guage to check things like that. I know it would've been more work to check it first but, look at all the time and money you saved by just being a parts chucker! HAHA, meatball....

had that off too, as near as i can the the tentioner is doing its job, and the noise is from the back of the engine not the front. and i do have a oil presure gauge it's just in KPA and it took me forever to find the converstion and the stock presure that it should run at. and acording to my gauage it idles at 7 psi. little low. while this didn't FIX the knock compleatly it did help and i've nopticed that the oil pressure recovers better and is WAY more consistant now.

did i need to do it? no.

does it make me feel better knowing that the engine is getting oil from the pump? yes ;D

Oh, alright, you got a point.

The tensioner bracket will have a shiny worn spot where the tensioner is hitting it. It is just in front of the plunger.

What the hell could make noise in the back???

inski thinks it might be cam races. but at this point.... im just saving for my turbo swap i think. im have tubro withdrawls right now

low oil pressure + knocking sounds = worn bearings = new motor soon = i'll be selling my shortblock this summer
