My car is getting up there in miles, so i decided to have an oil sample analyzed, just to see what's really going on in my engine.
Blackstone Labs (http://www.blackstone-labs.com/) looked like a great option, as they send you a free test kit, and the basic analysis only costs about $22. I shipped the sample out Monday, and got the results Thurs. So, the turnaround was very quick.
For the basic analisis, you get
"Spectral Exam: Establishes the levels of wear metals, silicon, and additives present in the oil. Also checks for coolant.

Viscosity: Determines the grade of oil.
Flashpoint: The flashpoint is the temperature at which the vapors from the oil ignite. When the flash is lower than it should be, it shows a contaminant (usually fuel) is present."
