Oil smell

So I'm not absolutely positive it's my car, but I have been smelling a kinda burnt oil smell lately. I smell the exhaust, and nothing, I pop the hood, can't smell it, and don't see any leaks or anything. I smell it the most when I back up, which is why I smelt the exhaust. If it is my car, anyone have any ideas what it could be?

 
did you spill oil during your last oil change? i have some around my filler neck that burns off every oil change:rolleyes:

Nope. I do in fact HAVE to do an oil change though!!!

 
Could be just cause you need an oil change. Do you just start it up and go? or let the car warm up a bit? Checked the oil level? My car chews up and spits out a quart of oil by 2500 miles. You could be a touch low.

 
if you don't see no obvious leaks in the engine area, check your pass side CV boot. If the boot splits it pukes black goopy grease on the exhaust....classic burnt oil smell.

 
The oil level is good. And I always start it and let it run for at least a few minutes. Yeah I'm sure I just need to change it.

Nigel, no it isn't cv grease, I know that smell from my older cars!! LOL
