so the district service guy from subaru came to patriot to drive my car cause i called subaru and bitched about my brakes. i said drive it in the rain, which he didnt do, said they were fine and told me to call subaru in 48 hours and grandma again. no big deal right. well, while he was here he took pictures of my turbo back exhaust, all of it, my gauges, and even managed to mess up a few colors on them, them of my intake and my vin. what the f^#$. any bets on weather i still have a warenty once he gets the info to subaru!!! >

I was with you until right there... ???

Anyway, that may or may not suck - keep us posted about warranty status. I'm surprised that someone came out to actually drive the thing...

You are screwed Your vin will now be tagged modded and pictures to prove it. You should have just put on some Hawk HPS and your brakes would be fine.

I do not know this to be fact be it seems to be that he was looking for things to justify his trip there to subaru.

they can't actually deny your warranty because you have mods done, please don't make me go find the actual law. but they can only deny you if the modification is linked to your problem. like say your brakes are junk, they can't deny you because you have a cat back, or HID's now say your turbo pops and you have a turbo back, yeah then your kinda screwed.

that's why i buy old cars where if they brake.... i just fix them hahaha

find that law, it would be nice to have. they say brakes are tough to get covered cause they are so expensive, so i am gonna call subaru of na tomorrow and grandma again. i think brakes on a car with 10000 miles should work in the rain, but maybe i am crazy. by changing the colors, i meant, i have gauges that change color, i always keep them red and when i got in, there where two that were different colors.

They do tend to get cold if you're driving long distances on the highway without braking at all, are you having issues around town as well?

yes but a street brake should stop in emergency situations, i would not trust my brakes to stop in the wet, at highway speeds if there was a situation.

You are cookieed.
thanks, that really helps out a lot
Just stated what I think.

They took pictures, that means SNE now has your mod list, VIN, and name on the raisin list. I've seen them do it at MMM, Patriot, Sebago Chevrolet, and Forest City Chevrolet (now Quirk Chevy). It probably happens a lot at other dealers like Honda Nissan Mini and Ford, we just never hear about them.

The good news is your car has a very high resale value. If you are wicked pissed about the service and product you can move on to a 350z or whatever and your trade money will go far. If you really like your car have Evergreen or whomever start trying raisin like re-scuffing your rotors and pads to maybe get them re-broken in, or bleeding them, or swapping out a brake booster or maybe your bias is fubarred. I dont understand why you modded it if you weren't satisfied with the brake performance.

We all know that this is what happens to modded cars. We've read about hundreds of them getting the warranty Ax on NASIOC over the years. It sucks. Subaru gave us the best thing they could give us and still do the 3/36/60. The short time I was with Subaru I saw all kinds of obvious warranty voiding crap out there, and 99% of the time its over looked. Usually only obvious abuse and difficult customers fell within that last 1%. Hell, even Rad came in with numbers on his LGT and asked to have his car fixed for free. They fixed it, or attempted to, without flagging his VIN. It wasn't til after he traded his tractor in that SA came up with a fix for his problem (dash rattle), which turned out to be very common problem on those MY LGTs.

Anyways. It happens less in Maine because the money isn't here and a far fewer percent of the Subarus get modded. Now its come to front and center. I think Nigel said it best. If you want to play be prepared to pay.

Well said Chris.

OP - It sucks, but you have to step back and realize what he's saying is nothing more than the cold hard truth, and in no way personal. I'm sure the fact that you just had pistons replaced under warranty raised some concerns in SNE's eyes as well.

They may still honor his brake concern under a one time good will type thing. I was under the impression that they wont completely dump a car if the mods aren't directly involved with the issue at hand, his brakes. Plus he's had it in for the same exact problem before any mods. Its semi-slow right now for Subaru dealers (except for those killa Forester deals), they might work with you. Just keep up the communication, either with Patriot or SNE or both.

Dash rattle? Our Outback XT still has the dash rattle after....three trips in over the years. It hasn't gone away - have to bring it in again.

What's the fix? New fix? There's a whole bunch of added padding around my fuel lines that isn't doing jack.

Sorry for the tangent, OP.

I have the fix for that Smosh. You need to take a rubber grommet (I have a spare one for you or I can show you a pic, looks like a 1/2 inch wide rubber doughnut) and stick it between where the windshield meets the dash in front of the steering wheel. That solved my rattle permanently
