well I bit the bullet and got some work done down there and im not impressed....... that and the service manager drives a corvette and didnt show and knowledge of subaru's anyone else want to put int there 2 cents on it?

Maine Mall Motors "Berlin City" sold the franchise to pape, just because they wanted the room to build a new nissan/ honda superstore where the maine mall honda service is. They set up shop at the mitsubishi building by the hummer dealership in south portland. I walk in and i see mitsubishi carpets on the floor. I told them it might be a good idea to change those. Fights can get started that way. lol

so what (besides srvc mgr sporting a vette and not being a suby dood) ticked you off specifically? what was the service/work issue involved.

when a dealer gets bought out in corporate shuffling, some good service service guys get pooshed out, other good guys somehow hang onto their jobs. the whole deal at ex-MMM/Whatever Retail car store is still pretty new, they are probly still trying to figure things out, it sucks to be a guinea pig in that situation.

if you have dealer type work that's needed, go to a smaller locally owned suby shop, and not a big faceless retail operation like mmmpapewhatever. at least in the smaller shop you can look the owners and/or their key ppl in the eye.

not ticked off, its something I need to get used to or I will just move on to someone else. I just don't have the special treatment I used to have with maine mall. Guessed they spoiled me lol anyways I am going to really miss the fresh baked cookies :crybaby2:

Hi. I just wanted to set the record straight. My name is Larry Stark and I am the new General Manager at Pape Subaru in South Portland. We did recently aquire the Subaru franchise from Maine Mall/Berlin City Subaru. We are very excited to join the Subaru family and we brought over the finest service technicians and parts people from Maine Mall.

Our Service Manager is Danyel Pao. Our Service advisor is Chris Corriveau. Danyel brings years of experience with her including Mitsubishi and Subaru credentials. Chris came to us from Evergreen Subaru and is great with customers and very skilled at his profession. Early on we did open our doors with Todd Welsh in the position of Service Manager. Todds' expertise lies with General Motors, but he was kind enough to lend a hand in opening up.

We had a very successful first full month in business and we ask that everyone appreciate the fact that there are always growing pains associated with a new business and in time, given the great folks we have working for us, everyone will know that this is the best place to buy and service your Subaru.

I welcome everyone to our store located at 2123 Broadway in South Portland and please feel free to call me with questions or concerns.

Thanks for your time,

Larry Stark

I swear I dont have anything out for them. I always give them a chance but......

I have another story lol

I just bought a 08 2.5i down in MA and they threw in a set of cross bars for the roof. Well, when i opened the box and I got two keys for the front and for the back bar took a different key which was not supplied. So I called up the dealership I got them at and they said just go down to any subaru dealership and they can take care of that for you because it covers under the warranty So, I went down to pape told them what was wrong and all they could do was sell me a new key for 15 bucks! Screw that, I could buy a pair of pliers for 3 bucks to unlock it. They say that because they didnt sell me the cross bars and didnt know if the box was opened. Which is understandable, but why would I have 2 of the same keys and 2 different cross bars, what is there to gain by that? They could have always called the dealership were the bars came from. lol God forbid if somthing ever happend's to the car and they pull this type of raisin again. :angry4: Long story short Planet subaru in MA mailed me a key for free. +1 for them :headbang:

I am guessing that most of these issues came about before the dealership switched hands.

lets hope that they change their ways. I have had issues with MMM dealers Subaru, Toyota, Lexus. I have never dealt with "Pape".

Lets give them a chances to prove their worth. Maybe we will get the southern equivalent of Evergreen..

I have dealt with Manny Mendes there at Pape and he's a real stand up guy. Nothing car related but other business and he has always been really great to deal with. Just my .02

Give them a chance to get on their feet. We all know that MMM sucked when it came to meeting the needs of enthusiasts. They catered to your everyday Subie driver. Since this is a new endeavor for them we should be offering constructive feedback, and, as Pedro said... maybe they'll be the Evergreen of the south although it will be hard to find a Parts guy shorter than Joel.
